Short answer, yes.

Time between wheel alignment depends a lot on use and driving habits.

I've looked after fleet vehicles that I could never keep in alignment, one driver was the problem.

My cars get an alignment with new tyres, and rarely in between.

Whether it was out of alignment from new, or something has happened to knock it out, you'll never know.

I believe Disco 4s are heavy on front left tyres in urban driving, i assume roundabouts, I wouldn't be surprised if new Defenders were similar.

Disco 4s need someone who knows what they are doing and the gear to put the vehicle in the right "mode" to get the alignment right, again I wouldn't be surprised if new Defenders were the same.

If wheel alignment should be done every six months, then their service interval should be six months too. IIRC the setting for wheel alignment on a D4 is called TTM Tight Tolerance Mode.

I checked mine with nearly 17k kms and there is no appreciable sign of uneven wear. My AT tyres (Maxis) have a deep tread and the wheels (TuffAnt) are aftermarket.

Correct, because of the constant self leveling, the EAS has to be kept still during an alignment. Pretty straight forward with one of the code readers. Some shops just opened the tailgate, but all this does is stop the rear from leveling, not true TTM.

Not sure if the L663 platform uses the same SL feature, imho an alignment every 6 months is overkill, uneven tyre wear at the rate posted indicates something significantly wrong with the initial set up, needs to get checked out asap.

Edit: from those pictures, there's way too much toe-in that causes the edges to wear like that. Can't see the other edge, if the inside edge is worn, your running pressures are too low.

I'm 16000km in, even wear all round, running the heavy load pressures of around 46-48 psi on the AT tyres.
