Thread: Battery disconnect switch

I just keep a door unlatched and let the car go to sleep then further opening doesn't wake it up.
The rear door also doesn't turn on the Pivi screen - not sure about other electronics tho.
If you want to disconnect the battery it's a 10mm socket and easy access under the driver's seat. You might struggle to find room to put that disconnect switch in and replace the battery cover.

I know about the rear door and plan to use that as much as possible.

When you leave a door unlatched (say the drivers door), does opening any of the other 3 doors wake the system up or does the system still stay asleep?

Not sure a battery disconnect is the way to go because continually disconnecting and reconnecting the battery in a new defender "may" cause unforeseen problems with the vehicles computers.

I would do a lot me research first.

Last year Andrew St Pierre White did a 15 min video on "Why is Defender such a poor choice for Adventure". He had some interesting things to say, but the comments section had some good fixes to his 'issues', especially about the battery drain. You might get some ideas to help you in the comments.

He has a habit of fact free rants about the L663 for some reason e.g. losing an ABS sensor disables the vehicle and a flat battery requires a flatbed tow - both comprehensively debunked.

Don't stress about the battery drain just enjoy your camping and have a recovery solution if needed e.g. jumper cables, a jumpstart pack or the like. Or do a simulation in your driveway?
