So I don't often venture out in the S M E G when the sun goes down but when I do and the doors are opened usually a myriad of cabin lights illuminate.
However last night in Mount Wilson (bereft of street lights) it seemed that Lucas (the Prince of Darkness and Land Rover's nemesis) had struck. The cabin was darker than Tata's black hole of Calcutta
Being a natural catastrophic Land Rover owner I assumed the worst!
With the dread of having to deal with my fiendly [sic] dealer and the prospect of weeks without the S M E G, I made my own investigations: GAP tool..no faults, Fuse boxes totally Byzantine so gave up.
When all else failed I resorted to the Instructions.
The Land Rover iGuide Online (easily confused with the "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy") has this to say about Interior Lighting:
Problem solved with a long press of the lens.To switch automatic illumination of the interior lights off or on, continue to touch the front interior light lens (5) until the light flashes. INTERIOR LIGHTS OFF or INTERIOR LIGHTS AUTO is displayed in the instrument panel accordingly
PS The (5) reference is wrong .... the correct number according to the diagram it is (2)

It’s the same in the D3. Funny what a 4 year old can intuitively find and activate that it takes me ages scanning the books to undo.
