Service and unit history for Australian army vehicles are relatively hard to find because that information is generally not available to the public. If you found the ARN, you have likely been to REMLR and they will have the most information and members to assist.

Most people find out their vehicle's unit history by archaeology on the vehicle itself. Rubbing back the paintwork to see if any formation signs and christmas trees were painted on.

If the vehicle is not an ambulance or fire engine and has a full base overhaul plate (usually a plain aluminium plate stamped with a workshop and date around 1972 - 1973) there is a good possibility the vehicle went to Vietnam. Then you can search the photo archives on RELMR etc looking for your vehicle.

You can also do some research at the Aust War Memorial.

Hi welcome to the forum.
Finding its history and units can be a little difficult as there are no public records as such but if you can find any unit markings on doors somtimes under layers of green paint some one can usually tell you something and pics will help '

I cant find a work shop plate. it has had a paint job in civi life. Where would it be located?

Try inside the engine bay, on bulk head either centre top or passenger side. roughly 2 1/2 inches long x 1" high
