You need 24V
That would be good for someone restoring a Ferret, SII or early SIIa FFT.
It has a commanders headset and control which is more appropriate in an armoured vehicle, although the ATU (with it's special bolt) is a B vehicle (soft skin) fitting. They go out on the front mudguard, the armoured cable is the coax ext for the ATU box, it runs down and under the outer edge of the front door sill, under the firewall and up under the mudguard where it pops out through a special plate to connect to the ATU.

thats what i thought but wasnt anywhere near sure...
i just knew it looked like what was supposed to be in my CR as it originally had one apparently.... or so i am told.

Just looking at those cables and remembering having to rub spit on all the 'o' rings to make them go on to the radios etc is bringing back nightmares! What a pain they are!

If your SII CR was fitted with that, there should be evidence of the rectifier which sat above the front cross-member in front of the radiator. There would be bolt holes or posts on the cross member.Originally Posted by incisor

there was the remains of an angle iron post originally... hmmmmm
there is a hole in the rear bulkhead and behind the passenger seat for cabling to run as well.

Sounds like the real thing.
The regulator/distribution box sat on the transom between the front seats, in later models there were two small electrical boxes behind the passenger. One of these was the regulator for the 24V generator.
In the mid 1960s FFT there was a blower to keep the power supply cool. This had a little louvered panel just behind the fuel filler on the RHS.
If you wanted to make everything work, I wouldn't bother with the original system, I'd fit a 24V alternator off a 24V MQ Nissan Patrol or similar.
