I just got my first 1955 Series 1, Currently start restoring the car now. I come up to the stage of painting the chassis whcih I am not sure what would be the correct colour for the chassis. After I took all the part away, I could see that the chassis never been touched nor repaired and it was painted in Green. (Different from the book "Original land rover series 1" mentioned that chassis frames on 1954 both 86" and 107" are painted to match the body- green on 86" and blue on 107", but 1955 and later basic vehicles of both wheelbase have the chassis finished more conventionally in black) Only thing that over the green is dust and rust, I didn't see any colors except the blue color that was repainted to the body. Underneat the green, it is pure steel.
Some members from "Series" area of the forum mentioned to me that my car was an ex-militarly vehicle. Therefore I think I better try to post the picture of the car here, I might be able to get more information on the car.
Any input comments would be really appricated.

The identification plate shows it is a British Army vehicle. FV18001 was the designation of the basic short wheelbase Landrover. The same designation seems to have been used for 80", 86" and 88" Series 1, but most of them were 86", mostly supplied 1954-1956. According to CalVIN this is an 86, but the calculator does not give the year.

If you go to the Ex-Military Land Rover Association (EMLRA) in the UK they may be able to give you some of the history of your vehicle. Like the units it served with etc.EMLRA - Ex-Military Land Rover Association
There is a member there who has access to the MoD records and will supply information at a price.
As for the colour, you will likely find that the original Deep Bronze Green was painted over with "MoD Green" or "NATO green" or sometimes "Desert sand" for vehicles that served in the middle east (Aiden etc), in the British Army this was often done by hand with a brush. Most vehicles you find in Asia usually served in Malaya (pre Malaysia), Brunei, Singapore or Hong Kong and were always green..
