Looks in top condition. What are the circumstances by which you got hold of it?

Could it be that the speedo has been replaced with a civvy unit?

Since the army ran 7.50's they also had to fit a re-calibrated speedo to compensate.

lwb's got 750x16's regardless of military or civvy use

Green Land Rover ones

Just some that I had lying around in the shed that came off an olive drab Land Rover that's also in there. I had them grit blasted and re-finished instead of the white stage one rims that came with the vehicle. They look the same as the ones I've seen on other military Land Rovers, like the pink panthers and a poster of the Perentie LRPV.

Why do you ask??

No they are actually OEM rims off 2 of my 1968 Series Land Rovers.

First saw the vehicle as a rolling chassis/firewall when I picked up a RRc that I'm wrecking for parts. The chassis and firewall had no rust, so when information reached me that the complete vehicle was for sale I jumped on it.

Very nice! It's good to see another S3 with the original plain galvanised bumper rather than painted over.

So what sort of speeds were you geting (realistically) with the 2.6? I'm curious as to what I should expect from grover when I get finished?

Err Well actually, the 2.6 is still sitting on the workshop floor.

The current engine was the same as Grover was a month ago. So the information I can give you only relates to that engine. Didn't speed the entire journey but was doing 110KPH along Maddens plains on the F6 without temp rises etc.

I can say that when new in the 2.6 had to use 3rd gear up the hills at each end of the F6 when the Holden goes up in top (and the reason George Wildman used the Highway and not the F6 toll road going from Balgownie to Sydney although I always used the F6 in my 2.6) so expect less performance than your used to with the Holden.

But after all, as lots of people on this forum say, Holden engines are cr....
