New Impco's are around $250 and the chinese knockoffs are about $200. So as the housings corrode in the water channels I would go for new.

Any gas installer will sell them.

You are talking about a Converter, the Mixer is what mixes gas and air in the intake hose. In any case a converter connected to a Rover engine cannot be corroded, aren't they lovingly maintained to a very high standard???

OOpppps you are correct - my comment was on the converter - should switch on brain before engaging typing finger.

I had my mixer re-kitted and it was expensive (labour) and with hindsight should have just got a new one - cannot remember the price though.

Mine corroded a huge hole in the water heating passages and pumped coolant straight into the engine air intact - all the white smoke and poor running made me think I had cooked the engine.

Ah , LPG my favourite subject .
Now ,this LPG thingy , does it have Impco stamped on it ? and just after the Impco does it have model "L" or "E" or some other letter as well ? yes ? this tells us that is a CONVERTOR or VAPORISER , not a Mixer . As bee utey stated , its function is important .
Now if it is a Impco model E or L then being a Convertor it has two distinct areas , one thats called primary and one thats called secondary .its also a NEGATIVE convertor , remember that !
The primary area recieves LIQUID LPG at no more than 5 PSI even though it gets LPG from the Tank at least 160 PSI
The primary section then drops the pressure , which causes a heat drop , so the liquid LPG would turn solid , Boyles law or something like that , so the water in there only prevents freezing up to a solid .(Yeah the point at which LPG at atmo turns from a liquid to gas is Minus 44 C ,But LPG is not Propane , its a mixture of Propane and Butane , butane changes state at Zero C . For Drag racing , the more Butane the better , for everything else pure propane is allright even if its dearer.
Now with a very basic grasp of some of the basics your problem , that of pasing water into the vapor stream , hang on , that was garycol problems not Blackbuttdisco's problem he just wanted a kit for something .
Sorry , yeah heaps of kits available for both CONVERTORS and Mixers , just tell them the model number and they will work it out , Hell I can still get Kits for my OHG 450's and 450as , which are the eqivalent of a iMPCO 425 MIXER , ONLY TWICE AS POWERFUL . iF THEY WANT MORE THAN $100 FOR A KIT , TELL THEM TO jAM IT AND BUY A B2 CONVERTOR COMPLETE FOR $150.hOW MANY YOU WANT ?, GOT A SHED FULL OF lpg GEAR iLL PROBABLY NEVER USE AGAIN .bLOODY CAPSLOCK !!
I apologise to bee-utey for talking crap , and if anybody needs any LPG parts then I have a shed ful of everything you can think of and will not charge more than one NWC per bit (NWC is Norwest currency , ie one carton of ****)

My apology first, I do not have an Impco mixer, I forget the gas bloke changed it for an OMVL R90E just after we bought the D1. I called it a mixer as that was what he called it, and yes some of you are correct, it is a vaporiser or a converter. I'm learning all the time. I can get a kit for this from UK for about $60, but gas blokes here do not want to know. They just fit a new one. I pulled apart an old one I bought from the wreckers, ($5) and there is not much to wear out apart from some diaphragms, "O" rings and a small hinge. Just shows how much crap you get told by the so called experts. Is there anywhere in Brisbane I can get parts for this? If not I will order from UK. Thanks to all who replied.

No worries Blackbutt , Because you have found it to be a OMVL R90E , that is a Positive convertor and means your running some sort of Ring venturi , not a real mixer in the sense of an air-valve type.
Your dead right about those LPG "gas blokes" , they only know how to replace parts , they understand very little of what actually is happening.
I use to buy only special stuff from Torquegas in Caloundra , but because they dont use OMVL convertors they would only sell want they keep on the shelf ,. Not much use , looks like you need to do alot of ringing around , to get a Kit , they will try to slug you $150 just for the Kit !!!
Most of the time look for a Sprintgas Flogger , they used alot of OMVL stuff in the old Fumigation days .

I have a kit that has been opened but seems to have all the rubber bits and valve seats. PM me if you are interested in it, cheap.
