If you guys really want to know the complexities involved, there is this 2009 report to the ACC.
I haven't found the time to read it and I'm in the industry.
BTW it's tipped to fall 4cpl after next week.

I have a D1. I only get 20L/100k's. Got scuba tanks in mine fractional larger 65 litre useable. My range varies from 250 /275 city or 290 / 300 highway.

I have tried everything from platinum plugs and high grade leads., dyno tuned. filters. Spoke to a guy who is right into LR's and he said i was doing good at 20l/100k's on gas. Petrol you should get 15L/100. problem is i only have 30 litre petrol tank..

Wish i could get 15ish/100 out of mine on gas.

The old mixer system that goes through what looks like a carby before the intake is at best around 15% worse than petrol usually up to 30% depending upon system The newer direct injection gas systems actually put lpg into each cylinder controlled via comp. so the best ones are IDENTICAL in both economy and power if tuned right. I've had 2 of the old ones and 1 of the injection ones(76 statesman, 98 prado and a 2003 prado 4.0v6 which had the newer one) and the new type is MILES better and worth every dollar, no backfires , no stench unless there is a leak and same economy/power as petrol only a little noisier. We now have 2 diesels, an 02 def wagon 110 and a multivan as we dont(or thought we wouldnt) do as many K's now. With both prados we dropped the rear tank and as they have 2 and still had 60-80L of petrol along with 60L gas.
Not 100% but there should be an injection-gas option for the LR V8 as the system we had came from europe.

Well, the price of unleaded in Adelaide just went up to 157.9 cpl, not long now and lpg should be near half price again.

Now all those owners of D1's and RRC's who haven't got an oxygen-sensor controlled processor, now is the time to get the benefit. With the sensor in and running you can tune for power and economy, no compromise. Compared to max power settings you can increase economy by up to 20%. Ask your local gas fitter, connecting up an O2 sensor is easy.

had a delivery of gas at work.
48 c/l invoce showed 53c but i was told a discount for government came off that.

there is bottle rental on top.

My dad has 250KG tank at the house also-and it used to be at 58c inc tank.I mentioned this at work and was told there are restrictions ror residential homes for big tanks-its safer to swap lost of smaller bottles that never get inspected.
