LPG for '93 3.9i Disco Auto

Once I fix the transfer case input shaft and spud shaft and such, I will convert the BearTruck to LPG. As I no longer go hard core offroad as I once did with Wally my Defender, and as the majority of use is onroad as a troop carrier, what are the thoughts on LPG and which tank is best? I am looking at a tank fitted lengthways in the back along the passenger side as the sixth seat is on the drivers side. I have been quoted $2400 from a Mt Druitt specialist.

I have been told the underbody tanks that allows th petrol tank to remain are unavailable and months away and $4000 anyway. As I am not too worried about keeping petrol (as I doubt I will go anywhere where there is no LPG to be had) or my ground clearence (I can always pump up the air spring thingymebobs) I can also look at a cheap under body tank and regain some needed space in the rear for folding stroller (Have wife, 3 kids and one due January and two will be in capsules/seats and tandem stroller)

So, advice please? Beartruck was purchased with the idea that at $5K and in excellent condition (one owner and 198,000km on the clock in May) even as a V8 it would be cheaper to keep it going for five to ten years then financing a collection of computer chips with a Land Rover badge on the front. Cheers Perry

PS That was before the transmission went graunch, of course! Still even with a few grand spent over the next few years, given I love the style and so on I am still way ahead than if I got into hock for a Disco3.

I'll be selling my underbonnet bits from my P38A LPG install shortly. It's been removed as the venturi system ain't great on the P38A.

Basically it's the complete LPG system bar the tank and the hoses from the tank.

The Federal Govt. will still pay the full $2000 rebate when second-hand LPG gear is fitted.

I haven't decided on a price as yet or whether to sell it on eBay.

For a fuel tank on a Disco, I'd consider a vertical toroidal tank (if it will fit) to avoid taking up too much rear load space. That leave the petrol tanks still ready for use when needed.
