    Nice video! (copy please?)

    Part of the 7am lineup:

That was a good show! As well as pristine original vehicles there were loads of astounding restorations/rebuilds of all types with photo displays showing the process of recovering something that looks like a (in fact is!) a rusty pile of scrap into something ready to become a gleaming vintage vehicle:

(To think I used to worry about bulkhead rust... ).

The drive around the track was a lot of fun (that bus stood no chance ), as was rummaging in the parts bins in the vendors section (anyone want map light covers for their military Series III dashboard? - there was a box of them there). I found some more Whitworth spanners for the Series and also got good quality plug lead to suit the screw connections on my 86's dizzy.

Congratulations to all those chosen for the concourse display - your vehicle really had to be in tip-top condition to compete with that lot :

And of course there were the Goggomobiles :

    - anyone seen a Goggomobile van before?

A small note of disappointment - the Council of Motor Clubs souvenier Newsletter, handed out to everyone attending, has full page spreads for all the Marques celebrating anniversaries in 2008 (and there are a lot of them). All of them have neat potted histories of their Marque... except for Land Rover, which has half a page about the introduction of the P3 sedan and ends with a sentence about the "Rover Owners Club"

yeah, it was a bit disappointing Dave,
we got in too late for the event, and we nearly didn't get in at all, let alone get into the newsletter.
but i did get them to read out a whole lot of land rover history i slapped together on friday night, which was better than nothing. i attended a meeting with them at the end of the day and asked them to either publish a date on their website from when we can start booking in, or send out an email to the clubs letting them know that bookings are open.
glad you had a good day, i certainly did!

What I should have said was that the location for the club was great - we got to see all the cars doing their laps right from the back of our cars. So we got to view cars doing what they are supposed to do not just sitting static like in a museum.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
