New Perentie Owner - what now?

Hi guys, just bought a Perentie in the last batch from Grays - (have also started the resto on a '71, 5 years ago) but have lost patience with myself, and got this otherwise I will be waiting for years.

Just a quick question, what needs to happen now - have called Grays but must be on lunch as no answer - are they sold with RWC? - the bloke there seemed to think they were - or at least serviceable?

Assuming I need to get a RWC, can anyone recommend someone in Melbourne - preferably Sth East - used a bloke up in Braeside for my old Stage 1, not sure if he is still there.

Do I need a permit to drive it from the depot to the mechanics etc?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Sam

You need to get a RWC.

First things to do, You have the VIN and other details. Ring Vicroads and get a UVP. Drive it home.
Then, do what you think is necessary for a roadworthy. Drive it to a RWC inspector. Get a RWC (may require further work). Book it into Vicroads for a registration appointment (they will want to see the engine number and VIN on the car). Pay your registration fees and drive it home registered. It is a little different if you are putting it on a club permit.

    Hi Sam

    Welcome to the club

The ones in Minto come with a NSW Blue Slip but not the interstate auctions.

    Which one did you get?

Pickup is usually Monday through Wednesday.

    Diana

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Thanks guys and Diana, it was Lot 8 - think the tarp was sound when I checked, but description said has damage so might have to get one off Mr Mulder.

Thanks for the welcome, but have actually been lurking on and off for years - my in laws just rolled my 110 outside Goondiwindi last week, so this is to replace that - not quite as comfortable, but have always wanted one.

Have joined or attempted to join Vic Land Rover owners club, assuming that is all done, I can then get the club reg?

Bad luck about the 110 - hope nobody was injured.

Good excuse to get a Perentie though

If you haven't already done so, it may be worth your while taking a look at the remlr site, you can register your vehicle for posterity and join in the forum for free.

    JOINING REMLR

In the "library" section of remlr.com (which is a freely available general reference site)- not the above forum - there are electronic copies of army workshop manuals for Perenties, (and lots of other stuff)

I think they (LROCV) have resumed their club registration scheme. There are other clubs you can get a club permit with as well. VMVC springs to mind.

If you put it on a club permit, you still will need a RWC but you won't need to present the vehicle to Vicroads. You won't need to make an appointment with Vicroads. Just front up to a Vicroads office with your paperwork (There is a form that needs to be signed by a club member authorised to do so), take a number and wait your turn.
    It's simple.
Best to chat wit the club member responsible for permits first as some clubs have additional club imposed requirements.

Thanks guys - yes luckily they both walked away - amazing - not sure if I can attach the file?

Have joined LROCV, so will go through the process, but good to know don't have to present the car to VicRoads - that should be easier.

RWC done today - pretty right except for the heater doesn't work - these guys are not LR guys, so am I best to take it somewhere - any suggestions in the Sth East Suburbs? - Rand Toorak Tractor, but Adrian is flat chat apparently.
