The wires should all be numbered inside the sheath, I'd be happy to take the old 12 pin off your hands for my Army Horndraulic trailer.

For first rego you need a blue slip, the pink slip comes next year.

No Pink Slip req'd for trailer renewals under 750Kg.

Nothing more is required for initial registration besides the Blue Slip, except the small matter of handing over wads of cash to the RMS. You will pay for Stamp Duty, Registration and issue of a new plate. All up should be about $130.

To replace the 12 pin plug, it is probabbly easier to remove the whole length of cable with it (as the plug can be frustrating to get into the back of it to unsolder the wires). There is a screw terminal plug strip (I know these things have a commercial name, just can't think of it now) down the back of the trailer. The cable from the 12 pin plug runs down the central tube to this terminal block, held in place by conduit clamps. Unscrew the wire from the terminal block and withdraw the entire cable with the 12 pin plug still attached. Replace with about 3.5mt of standard 7 core trailer wire with your 7 pin flat plug attached. Should take you all of 10 minutes.

I got lucky, sort of , it already has a flat7 pin same as my def and it already has a normal towball attachment, which I already knew.

I have brought back from Qld auctions a No.5, and currently attempting to jump through hoops to get it registered in NSW. Firstly, got a weighbridge certificate, it came out as 380Kg. Then to a blue slip servo, they say I must have mud flaps which go down to at least the level of the wheel centre, and also extend the mudguards out to at least the widest part of the tyre.

I will post my progress in this saga. it began at the Qld Frontline auctions not getting new VIN numbers and blue slips. I was told by Frontline person that they don't in Qld because they don't have have to. NSW auctions do, because you can't sell an unregistered vehicle in NSW without a blue slip.

I would be interested to hear from anyone else going thruogh NSW rego for a No.5.

What is a blue slip for, exactly?

Mick, a blue slip in NSW, is an inspection certificate for an unregistered vehicle, including trailers (a pink slip is the certificate for rego renewal).

They are fairly fussy with these apparently, taking great pains to ensure that the vehicle is not a recycled stolen one for example. The No.5's sold without a VIN, in NSW it seems you have to apply to have a new VIN issued, which requires a blue slip, but the blue slip form requires a VIN to be filled in which is on the govt database (catch 22?).

Going back this week with mud flaps and extended guard fitted, to hopefully get it sorted or maybe find out what the next technical block is.

I get the impression that NSW Frontline has their own inspection facility and they just do whatever they want.

Apparently the photos on the auction were not as sold, a friend informed me that the Haulmark without lights had them by the sale date.

As for mudflaps on a No.5 these are the ones I fitted to my trailer, they are generic Land Rover ones.
