Thread: #5 military trailer mud flaps

I have a Workshop Trailer, recently fitted the same Mudflaps that are on the Perentie. Just get yourself a 45 degree section of alloy cut to size, drill some holes WOLLA.

Basically any cheap alloy strip from a hardware store, rubber sheet from a rubber (Clarke Rubber-type ) shop, buy enough to cut it to size.

Take care to cut your mudflaps short enough so they wont catch on the tyres and fold forward over the wheels when reversing, alternatively restrain them from doing this with light chains attached towards the rear of the trailer.

If you are towing it with a hard backed vehicle, "front" mud flaps can be desirable as well to stop the rear window of the towing vehicle being broken from stones that are projected towards the front (it really happens). Again, these will also need to be restrained by chains from doubling back over the trailer wheel.

They're not a No5. They're built differently.
They have no mudguards. Did they have mud flaps?

I wouldn't be drilling into the tub.

pop rivets are good

I have two No5's neither are fitted with mud flaps, nor is my 1/2T platform trailer, I'm fairly certain that they were never fitted with mud flaps in service, cheers Dennis
