All the previous sell-offs of Series LRs have pretty well disappeared either into paddocks or into collectors' sheds.
When the Series LRs were sold off in batches at Holsworthy they went at prices which were generally much higher than either the then non-military market or what they could be subsequently bought for on resale - eg. good Ser 3s sold around $4k at auction, but could be picked up later for $1k to $2k, often with some rego on them.
Those remedial TD5 110s that sold recently went for prices that appeared quite high in relation to the civvie market and, I think, would be difficult to resell now at that price level.

You'll be able to build a better army buying things on Parramatta Road car yards. There won't be any armour or weapons sold to the public.
I am also going to merge this with other threads on the subject.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
looks like the Perenties are here..

Hi Diana, any chance you could move this thread to general chat or have it running concurrently in both sections? Only reason I ask is I am sure there are other members who don't frequent the military vehicles area who may be interested in it and it might also stop the "new thread a day" on the topic.
Cheers J
No chance at all.
For the same reason we don't have the same thread running on winches in multiple areas. The original thread was in with the military vehicles so there it stays.
Don't worry about the thread of the day that will still happen no matter where it is and the mods will merge them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. This time around, I can't see any farmers buying these when Toyota parts are so easy to get, and there are only so many collectors.
I can remember SIII ex-Army soft-tops in Perth going for a fair bit in the 90s, but they often sat for a long time as while the price was set for a "rare and special" vehicle, the reality was that few wanted a dodgy 6-cylinder and a canvas roof. I looked at a couple and even a nut like me wasn't going to pay something like a third more than what a good civvy model would cost. And that was well before cheap Indian and Chinese cars hit the market!
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
