It had to have been a reserve member or ex reserve because a key was used. They all had the same key. If these vehicles come up for auction they are the ones to get.
S'funny how the memory goes. I have no clear recollection if there was a keyed ignition on delivery or if it was a later mod?!
SOP was always to de-fuse the edict switch under the bonnet and remove vital bits if there were others in the Area. Was always good sport to find another patrols cached vehicles and leave a 'BOOM' note on the steering wheel.
Don't ask what other boredom relieving activites have developed in a LUP over 6 days. A 9volt and repellent spring to mind

Buying an RFSV for its key is an exxy way of going about it. See my previous posts about the comparitive value of the RFSV. Remember, these more than any other Perentie have been operated on the worst roads and conditions (salt flats etc) and are most prone to Suspension damage, chassis cracks and corrosion. Patrol speed is rarely ~5k/h. It is fast enough to drive through an ambush before they can initiate. Ally and canvas aint 'hardened'.
Had a mate brass up (blanks) a Blue 3/4 cav M113 protected VCP that we hadn't been told about as they popped out of a creek dip at speed and performed an 'Oh S**t' u-turn!
Had to go and prostrate (literally!) ourselves to get his webbing back that had slid off the windscreen as they turned. Kiwi buggers had it all spread out and divvying it up when we got there : ))
    Cheers, BDave.

    Schedule?

    Hello there!

Haven't been online here for a while, so may have missed something, but I have seen a number of these Clearance Auctions reported as Manheim and some as Gray's and even gooled to find a link to Pickles?

There is probably an overall schedule I should be aware of by now... but I'm not! Can anyone help?

PM me if you don't want to broadcast it. Its for personal reference and interest only, I will not be forwarding it (well not outside AULRO users anyway!) or planned () purchasing of anything.

I guess that should mean I am not a threat to any serious collectors/bargain hunters.

    Thanks in hopeful advance!

Sorry Dave. I could tell you, but I'd have to shoot you.
Try googling Frontline. They're on Greys.
Don't bid on the ones I'm bidding on.

has the contract to sell all the ex army vehicles. They are based at Minto NSW. Only a few of the heavy trucks are to be sold eslewhere. If you intend to buy anything, you really need to inspectr it. If you can't go yourself perhaps someone you know who lives in or near Sydney could do it for you.

I'm pretty keen to get a vehicle+trailer, interested in the feasibility of flying up and driving back (quotes on sending a trailer are horrific)

Is it just a matter of getting two unregistered vehicle permits (one for the trailer) from the NSW RTA for driving from Minto to a workshop in Melbourne? or would I better using VIC UVPs? (NSW UVP's require a NSW license?)

YES, it is as simple as that. They are approx $20 each.

NO. The unregistered vehicle permit needs to be issued by the road authority from where you begin your journey. There is no need for a NSW license.

Would the trailer need a safety check inspection report for the UVP?

The last lot of trailers had "blue slips" provided - I have not looked at the listing this time to see if they have - a simple phone call to the enquiry number and they would be able to tell you.

.. just took a look - at least the ones I looked at have the "blue slips" this time too....

The RSFV's also had rear disk brakes and long range tanks. I hear what you are saying about copping abuse, but they do have a few good bits.
