Well I decided now we are living back on the coast and we don't have to put up with -6 degree mornings anymore that I should get back on a bike so after much consideration have bought a low kilometre modded MT-01.
Wanted something different to the usual 4-cylinder UJM that 90% of bikes are. Mainly I wanted a bike you don't have to rev the guts out of, which unfortunately now even describes most new 1000cc sports bikes, so I decided a big V-twin was the go but I didn't want a Harley or Ducati.
So after looking at quite a number of different bikes I narrowed it down to the big air cooled low revving 1670cc Yamaha MT-01, which handles and brakes better than many so called sports bikes and given that they were so very expensive when knew very few were sold so there aren't that many around.
Anyway the one pictured below arrives early next week from WA so can't wait to throw a leg over and go for a ride or two.

Hi Ian, Yamaha sold so called 'race kits' for these particular bikes, even though they were never meant to be raced. The Akropovic titanium pipe that this bike has fitted was part of the accessory hot up kit Yamaha sold. Ti pipes pretty much go blue as soon as they get hot.Originally Posted by V8Ian

To make it interesting I also bought from the seller a Patrick Racing engine kit that originally came from the US, the kit makes roughly about 25% more HP power and even more torque than standard.
Time will tell if fitting the engine kit is a wise move or not. ...
I reckon it will make things interesting though.
