Phillip - thats more or less what we did and I can assure you it's not right in any sense of the word !
Well the method was shown to me by one of the top motorcycle racers in Australia.
I recently used it at Loyalty Beach to show a charity ride to Cape York of CT110s how to pick em up, and it was easy that way. The 18 year old who had tried to pick one up many many times said he was embarrassed because it was so easy.

I realise that a GSX1400 is much much heavier but the principle remains the same. The last time I had a fall over was on my Honda Hornet 900 in my 1 in 4 driveway. Now try and pick up a bike on a 1 in 4. I ended up winching the steering head up with a come along.

The problem with the video methods arises when there is no grab handle on the lower side. There is nothing then to grab other than a piece of plastic. Also in my experience the steering can turn to lock if you are not controlling the handlebars. So I gather that you had someone help you lift the bike in the end as even I at 190CM and 117Kg could not lift one. If you do it again try to have someone do the handlebar thing while you lift from the side. I bet it is easier. Just because it is on a video does not make it right.
    Regards Philip A

Phillip I sympathise e the driveway dropmate that would SUCK.
I still dont reckon your method would work for a heavy bike though, however it may be that I am interpreting what you are saying incorrctly.
By the way where th hell si Avoca Beach?

I don't think I'll be putting that on a public forum Tombie ! LOL

Pedro - that's nothing. Sure its a professionally produced video but when I get home I'll find some links to people doing it better !

From Burpengary to the city and back most days, but mix up the times. Do you travel the same way, or opposite? I remember seeing a Street Triple going the other way a few times. My leathers are black/orange/white.

I like the Street (and Speed) Triple... When I went to the XB Buell (from an M2 Buell), it was between the XB, a Speed Triple, and a Duc Monster. Years of running with belt drive on the Buells had me converted, though - I couldn't go back to a chain drive.

I travel the same route, live off Uhlman road.

Sometimes i see you going both directions, its definitely you with the leathers then, full suit yeah? little mirror on your helmet?

I normaly have a big grey triumph tail pack on my bike (meant for the Tiger1200), my commute times are about as consistent as the weather in Melbourne though.

I've always loved the Buell's, very nice looking bikes. Found myself wanting all British vehicles :| the LR the Triumph and a 63 cooper S.

here is my old bike, served me well

sorry Vlad, added a photo to keep on track :|
