    carbys

    On our Subaru Brumby-
I have just had it recently rebuilt,
ran fine for two weeks, then the float stuck fully down, and would only start if I stopped the fuel and cranked till the bowl emptyied, then (release fuel) would run until idle/flood. Lifted the top off just enough to press on the float and now fuel level in sight glass correct, however seems to run out of fuel on first stage of carby, backfires whenever throttle is released(gear changes) car runs fine on full throttle. starts first compression. hot or cold, idles a bit low I think,,
I have taken the two bolts out of the bottom of the bowl, both clean
anything else I can do without removing lots of linkages?

I would take it back to the mechanic that rebuilt it and get him to put it right, surely he has more than an "out of sight warranty" on his work, Regards Frank.

Thought it was only fuel pumps and cv joint boots that broke on L Series Subarus.

anyone know what the 19mm hex rod, with wire attached, sticking out sideways from the carby body does?

Idle cut-off solenoid. Needs 12V to allow idle!

So what was the float issue? Did that sort itself?
