I suppose these pix don't help: Disassembly of Briggs and Stratton Large One-piece Flo-jet Carb
Lately I've been resurecting a couple of my Dad's old ride on lawn mowers in preparation for our "big" move.
One had a bodge repair done to the anti-surge spring on the carby. One end was fine & in the original spot (I assume) but the other was secured by a length of wire around the carby body. The spring section itself was stretched so it wasn't any good anyway.
I've sourced a new spring & have fitted it to the link as in the photo below but I can't seem to work out how it secures to the carby end.
It sort of fits OK to the circled link end but it's too loose to be effective. There doesn't apear to be any other obvious spot for it to go though.
Anyone have any ideas on how the spring is secured at the carby end ?
It's a Briggs & Stratton 11hp, model 252707 if that's any help.

Thanks Ron but there's nothing there about the spring.
I've been through the parts listings & manuals I can find online (owners & operating) but I haven't found anything that shows how the spring is fitted.

Already seen this?
Manuals | Customer Support | Briggs & Stratton
Yes, I've got the parts list & operating manual.
The 'remote control' picture on page 7 of the operating manual is the closest to showing the spring but the wrong end of it.

This is how the set up is on mine. If it's of no use let me know and I'll give it a bit of a clean and take another picture during daylight.

Thanks BSF. I can see the spring disappearing at the top of the picture - any chance of a piccy of the end of it?
Muchly appreciated.

If you want to get more HP out of a bang and stop you can bend the wind vane that is in effect a rev limiter.
A mate put me onto it whilst I was doing a few lawnmowing jobs on weekends for extra spending coins.
I had a 5HP BS mower,a tip rescue.New plug and it was a goer.Bent the vane (under the pull start cover) to increase output.
It screamed hard, wore 2 further tip rescue decks out then was given to a mate to fit onto his deck when we invested in a Honda.
Wet tall grass didnt faze it at all
Reved harder than a 2 stroke mower

That's about the best I can do without taking the carby off.Just make sure you've got the same number of turns on the spring.

I'm not sure how the r/h end of the spring is attached. There may even be a small hole between the choke shaft and the hole for the control rod. I hope you manage to figure it out.
