GT Falcon power steering pics wanted.

I'm on the lookout for some pics of how the power steer pump mounts to a Cleveland and how the belts run etc. Just to complicate it, this is for a friend of mine who's trying to source a setup for his XA GT so he wants to use original parts. Any info at all will be appreciated as I've tried google and google images with no luck.

    Thanks,
    Anthony.

Had a 73 JG33 for awhile. It did not have PS but a few mates with XBs & XCs (particularly the GXLs) did. I don't recall the setup being any different on the GT as oppossed to others. My best guess would be to start looking at ZG and ZH Fairlanes (or LTD's) as a hell of a lots of them had PS.

Theres a few different systems used on the XA, from memory they were a simple mount and not hard to mess up, the engine pulleys are the prob and very expensive when you find the right pair, some old XAs with lucas alts had a 2 row bottom pulley I dont like this set up, the standard set up from an XB will be what you want, ZG Fairlane give up same stuff, Ford Muscle Parts in Sydney be the place to go'

Thanks for your replies. So far I've found some pics of a Cleveland with "steer" but I think I've opened myself a can of worms especially in regards to the required pulleys. Being for a GT that's undergoing a full restoration the owner is trying to get the correct parts for the model. What's the Australian Ford site that would be the equivalent of AULRO (if that's at all possible as this is the best automotive site that I've ever seen ) ?.

    Thanks,
    Anthony.

As to pulleys - this is the conundrum your mate will have. (See photo)

Probably at the moment he has a single pulley on the crank and single pulley on the water pump ( On the far left of the pic). To use a power steering pump, he'll need to find the crank pulley shown on the right ( 2 groove) or a 3 groove. Then a different single pulley for the water pump ( in center of pic).

They're not too hard to find - generally search 'cleveland' on evilbay. I've just sold some excess power steering parts from my JG37MS cleveland.

The bigger problem will be finding a decent Ford type ( aka Barrel) pump. Most of them (including mine) have been replaced with the saginaw version. The bolts are the same, and the plate which bolts to the waterpump is also the same. Again, look through evilbay will give you some decent pics.

Otherwise, I can say that a little bit of digging on evilbay will reveal decent aluminium billet sets ( crank/waterpump/alt) for a good price, and they look good and work well.
