I remember in 1972 hearing a bloke comment that his brother had an XR Falcon that had come with a factory fitted 302. Basically XR's came with 289's and XT's with 302's. However, apparently this was one of the last 5 XR V8's made. They had run out of 289's in the factory but had plenty of 302's for the XT's to supersede them.
