Air compressor, tank and fittings system?

I have just purchased a Thompson Thumper single cyl compressor, whcih I plan to hard mount in tye vehicle (under drivers seat perhaps?)

I'd like to set it up with an air tank and with couplings front and rear to connect inflation hose to.

Main use tyre inflation of course.
Not sure if such a system would cope but would be handy if I could run at least an air blower attachment off it.

I'd appreciate if people could tell me

    1. What air tank to get. What size? Is there one which will alraedy have suitable connections, so donlt; need to buggerise around with welding etc?
    2. Moisture trap needed? Which one and where?
    3. What connectors should I buy? Tye and number and source.

The more info you can give me on this the happier I will be

    Cheers all.

    Hi Vlad

On my air sprung boat trailer
I put one of these , standard ports for fittings
    Good solid mounts
    Easy peasy

For the trailer I just have a shraider fitting to fill the tank to 150 or whatever
Which feeds paddle switches to the bags

One tank fill gives me a couple up n downs

Was just easier than having a compressor on a boat trailer

I recently purchased Thumper brand compressor with quick release integral air tank, pressure switch, hoses electronic tyre guage and connectors from Ashdown ingrams………….was surprised by its size and capacity etc.
Perfect for easy fitting into a vehicle...…..just need 45 amps at 12 volts to drive it.
It is quiet as electric pumps go and has 30 min continuous run time ……..very impressed and I purchased at a special price....list price is not too flash.

Is there enough room under the driver seat??

The tank list above will do the job, the bigger the tank the longer you can use it for blowing things out.

I’d only have the one outlet, and carry a hose long enough the track all four wheels.....previous owner of my old defer had outlet front and rear but I hanged it to one.

    Nice heavy duty wiring....

Pop over to fittings express or is it express fittings at Brendale, and they’ll sort you out you out for fittings, they might even have tanks. Or Powell industrial at Virginia.

    Pictures attached.
note...…. the size of thing.( Large)
note...….. it will quick detach from the air tank if necessary and compressor can be used alone.
note...... has all the hard work done, pressure switch,2x safety valves, dual outlets, pressure gauge, spare air filter ,rubber vibration mounts, thermal over load etc
note....comes with a special high temp metal sheaved pressure hose with quick connect fittings from compressor to tank ( no more hot hoses popping off the fittings.)( Hi temp hose stores on side of air tank if not used)
note...…..gauge, plastic air hoses, quick release fittings are all good quality.
retail price is something like $400 dollars, I got it for $200 on special.
even for $400 dollars it is worth less than the sum of its parts and no stuffing around to set it up.
I was supprized at its out put with or without tank.
I was half way building my own compressor tank set up and found this and went no further.
    Air tank is 6 litres.
compressor cuts in and out as required to maintain pressure if used with tank.

All my stuff is fitted with Ryco connectors which I've been using for 50 plus years. Naturally, it was the wrong choice, nearly everyone these days uses Nitto which usually come with any air tool one buys.

I have a similar size tank mounted under the tray / box on the 130, the compressor is mounted in the canopy. Too noisy in the cab. I've always used the Jamac fittings, purely from force of habit / familiarity from my first job may years ago. I think the fittings with a larger bore are probably preferable, the extra flow can be an advantage in things like seating tubeless tyre beads, even inflating from flat.

    Thanks everyone.

    roverrescue - cheers

101Ron that sounds like a great deal but as I just bought a compressor I'll need to string the bits together myself.

weeds - dunno, good question! Haven't checked yet. As for number of outlets I suppose the fewer the better when it comes to potential for air leaks etc. (Not to mention less $ spent on fittings). Where do you have your outlet located? (for air hose connection) Tank? Compressor?

POD - yeah in the canopy sounds (see what I did there) like perhaps a better option. Issue is where to run the aiir hose then.

    p38arover - isn't that always the way !
