Very nice! My Brother has been given the green light from his wife for one of these and is just waiting to put his money down on the sportback update with the new motor.
    Cheers

Top stuff. Yes, we knew there was a "new" engine, same engine but alloy, we just didn't want to wait another year, but 400HP will be good!
    Wifey just LOVES hers!

Well I suppose I'll have to take the usual flack from the Ford & the "Dunnydore" fans, but no worries guys, all is good.
I'm a life member of the HSVOC of Victoria, and last night the Club had its monthly meeting in "Toms Cafe" adjacent to the HSV production facility & the Walkinshaw Racing Team HQ. It's a good place for a meeting as there is secure parking & the Cafe has good tucker,..I had a massive Parma & chips!
Anyway, the main reason for the meeting there last night was for members to be able to view the HSV MY17 range including the GTSR & of course the mighty "W1".
We had Four HSV guys there from design, engineering, explaining all of the engineering behind the new range, particularly the W1, which of course is the only car, apart from the ZRI Corvette to have the Supercharged dry sumped LS9 V8, for which that engine was designed. There was no gearbox available from GM that would handle the LS9's power & torque so it was necessary for HSV to design a new gearbox casing containing the ZR1 gears, and also to design a new input shaft, no small task! Dry sump plumbing, braking, cooling, emissions, unique to W1 Supercar based suspension (no MRC on this car), was explained as was the fitment of unique wider front mudguards.
An excellent presentation, afterwards we all had the opportunity to get "up close & personal" with the range, sit in them etc, and talk to the engineers, a great experience.
It's interesting to note that all 300 of these cars have been pre-sold, some selling for $250K+, well above RRP of $170K. An HSV manager mentioned to me that in his opinion, some would be paying even more, to get a car.
None of the motoring scribes have had the opportunity to a real "Road" test yet, Luffy's done some of the suspension work, & ya can read his words in the latest edition of "Motor".
Hopefully, I'll get a ride in one, one day!
    Pickles.

    Loan????

If mumsie had the dosh, there are other ways to get it.
Unfortunately, I would fall somewhat short of the funds required.

Pickles , I really hope you do get a drive in one those cars sooner rather than later.

I 'm looking forward to hearing you wax lyrical about the opportunity.

Son, it's about time you bought a nice family sedan.

Oh, no, Ian, are you my mother?

I already have four family sedans. Ok, three. One no longer functions but I still have it.

    Sadly, no.
Quite a few years ago I was looking for a VL Calais. I found a station wagon with a V8. I should have bought it but I didn't because I also found the VR. I bought the VR. HSV 185i Calais. Oh, the HSV car cub rejected my application on the grounds the Calais was not a true HSV. But it was.
The VR was the best car I ever had.
Anyways, at a recent car show, I saw a VC SL/E station wagon. Chatting to the owner, I found out only eight were made (or was that six). I wonder how many VL Calais station wagons were made. Probably not many.
Oh, and I'd love to have an A9X. I found one a few years before I bought my VR. $20k it was. Silly me bought a VC SL/E instead.
Oh, and then there was the John Goss coupe about fifteen years ago for $9k. It had a broken fuel pump otherwise in good original condition. What are they worth now? $80k-90k?
I wish I had a big shed where I could store them all with my W1.
    Wish I had a W1.
