I have found a reference to Mr. A.Tranby-White of Tranby station, Winton driving a Holden from Australia to Yorkshire via South Africa and Timbukto. This supposedly happened about 1953-55. Tranby is a yorkshire name so not surprising they were taking a trip there. I couldn't find anything other than this brief reference. There are a few brief references on the internet to Mr. Tranby-White and Tranby station. He was born about 1890 and died 1981. He went to Winton district about 1911 and drew a ballot block in 1913 which he named Tranby. The family left the station in 1988.

That drive in a Holden through darkest Africa would have been quite an achievement then and I am surprised I can't find anything on the internet about it.
