Ford Recall Lion Engined Rangers and Everests

Seems the new Ranger and Everest aren’t immune to TDV6 engine failures.

This one relates to the Camshaft sprocket which may fail - a failure mode we have seen with the TDV6 in Discos.

Good to see it is subject to a recall.

Cute. Where is the Land Rover recall? So Ford is a more trustworthy brand is what I read.

Presumably a new improved camshaft sprocket is being fitted as part of the recall. I wonder if this new part is compatible with the previous versions of this engine, both in 3.0L and 2.7L format? Our MY12 D4 TDV6 with the 2.7 destroyed itself when the metal spokes of the drivers side camshaft sprocket failed.

Natural attrition would suggest that they won’t need to.

Personally I’d be wondering if the whole thing would be. Get a wreck that’s had all the recalls and fit the engine to a good D3. A D3/D4 with an engine to trust would be a keeper in my world. It was the thumb on the scale for me when I was looking for a vehicle to get away in. It’s a big reason why I bought the OKA instead. I fell in love with the D4 when I drove it but I am on my own and didn’t want the risk. Now my world has changed I sorta regret that choice but the TD5 is ok.

I agree and seems John Cadogan does too, as he will not deal with JLR.
