Plenty of Hemi conversions have been done. This is probably the best re-power of an LR you can do. Bill Winter 07 3274 4373 did just about the first on a Series 3 wagon about 30 years ago and has done more since.
I have a 265 here and am open to offers. It is a late engine from a CM and was running in a rusty car until deregistration. Has no manifolds or starter, but has flex plate, alternator, water pump.
Edit:- I have a new four barrel manifold, CM split headers and a swag of Quadrajet carbs to go with. Make an offer.

Back in the 1970s I had this Series 11A with a 215 Hemi in it. It worked really well with heaps of torque down low. I could let the speedo needle go down until it bounced on 0 and then accelerate away in 4th gear. It did go through a few gearboxes though. We used to do pretty serious work in the Victorian Alps as well a lots of towing. It towed a caravan around Australia and then was used as a workshop vehicle for our 4WD business. I ended up with a Series 3 syncro box and that was still in it when I sold it in 1981. I had a Fairey overdrive for a while but it ate that up.
