now that there is a few ks through the system the crackle has gone and its a smoother note, the muffler has finally burnt in.
its got a 16" muffler on it still but no idea what sort and a 2 1/2" mandrel system.

As for driving normally you still know it's there but it's not in your ear constantly, there is no longer any burbling or popping on full decel and when you are on light cruise you can barely hear it. It's also been slightly re routed to be further away from the rear tyre.

I'l get some pic's up of the back section and the dumpy on it in the next day or so and an in car vid.

    Cheers
    Mick

as promised more pics and in car video, it was taken at 80k's in 3rd which is the same revs as 100k's in 4th, with the windows up. Also a video with the dumpy on.
couldn't edit last post, is that a subscriber thing?
    Just answered my own question.

Love the noise... one day when my wears out or the money falls in my lap I will upgrade to a more enjoyable note!

Bet your fuel economy is gonna cop a hiding! I'd be kicking down and dropping cogs all day wanting to here the throb!

By the way, what did it cost?

I got it for mates rates off a friend if mine. Bout for that system you could expect around the 1g mark, keeping in mind I got another 3 flange points added so you can change any point if you hit it and it's also a custom system, all hand made no bolt on's.

    Cheers

    Thumbs up

I got my system from the extractors back fitted for around $450. All good quality stuff too. 2.5 inch all the way. The Y-pipe is a pain to make apparently. You can hear it in the link below:

The engine is now in my 110 with essentially the same exhaust system but with a different Y pipe and everything has been portmatched and ported nicely. I'll post some new stuff soon. Just as a note is is worth converting your vids to youtube for bandwidth reasons and also because it views faster. Ive also made $5 from youtube for my Disco rollover vid. Woohoo

    Question EXHAUST UPGRADE TIME?

Well funnily enough one of my cat's has recently dropped its heat shield/guard and is rattling annoyingly so I am now looking at exhaust repairs Vs upgrade.

Ideally, I would like performance and aural improvements (with out getting into the "look at me" territory). I am currentlky inclined to stay with a single system (but perhaps increase flow by upping diameter to 2.5 or 3 inch) and also following the standard path/layout where possible, with facility to attach Lambda sensors in standard locations and perhaps have a removable rear section to limit off road damage...

Anyone got suggestions about Melbourne based suppliers in the "value" budget bracket (i.e. not necessarily the cheapest, but the best value equation)? Saw someone mentioned in this post previously they only shelled out $400-500 for their new one... and that would be a great price bracket for my budget!

Also, anyone interested in me then trying to organise a bulk buy discount? Assuming we can agree on product and can find someone wanting to participate.

    HooRoo, Dave

P.S. I am NOT a mechanic so any advice guidance on anything involved would help greatly.

Sounds like a beast! Is that a 4 or 4.6?

My D2 V8 recently developed a crack in the y piece and also around the inlet side of the front muffler, so I decided it was time to make it sound better.
I took it to Performance exhausts in Ringwood (can highly reccomend them) and for $600 I now have a 2 1/2 inch straight through stainless system, with a turbo muffler at the front and a small straight through hot dog type rear muffler. Sounds quietish at low speed/idle (which is what I wanted) but really good at 2-2500 rpm, and at 100k's you can't hear it in the car. Mates following me in the bush reckon it sounds awesome.
