...... when RR owners call their Rangies a "Jeep"? From the RangeRover.net forum. I told him we couldn't help as we are a RR forum.

As he used a capital letter for "Jeep", he can't even use the excuse that he was just using "jeep" as some sort of American generic term for 4WD in the same way that we use "thermos" and "esky".

The only thing I could take from his comment is that it's possible he's got himself a Jeep and he regularly visits the Jeep forum... Its sad to hear... Peer pressure has taken over his life and now he calls everything a Jeep!
There are no cures for this disease, other than to take him out bush in a Range Rover for a few months and dispose of his Jeep while he's out there unknowingly!
A lot of people overseas still use the generic 'jeep' to refer to any type of 4wd - on a recent episode of Top Gear, Hammond called a series landy a 'jeep' and he is right into landies. My mum still refers to my landies as jeeps, my brothers Triton as a jeep and my other brothers toyota as a jeep.
So the term is a lot more common than we would like to think - particularly with older folk.
