    Diesel P38

OK, the wife has told me that she will travel around Oz in my 130 dual cab (no surprise there) so after a bit of research, I would like a P38 or L322. the issue is, I want a diesel and the L322 diesels are still a bit hexy, so I thought of a P38 and dropping a diesel in her, any ideas / opinions as to what the best transplant would be?

    Yep. Buy something else.

Converting a P38A to a diesel without a donor vehicle from the UK is fraught with difficulties.

    Thanks for the link...
so in a nutshell, the main problem with a P38 diesel conversion is the ECU and getting all th electrickery to talk to each other?
not sure if I like headaches as much as the other forum suggests...

You are saying that she will? or will not?

I know of one P38 with a 2.5L diesel that was a direct import.
Was up for sale a while ago but sold very quickly. Needless to say I guess.

Another thought is by the time you change cars, get it right and sell it after the trip and all the diesel conversion etc, it will be much cheaper to just get a stock P38 or a late D2 or early D3 in petrol guise and sell it after you are done.
Petrol is usually not such a big cost or travel.

Oh, BTW, my wife won't drive my P38A. She thinks it's a truck but she liked our 300Tdi D1 and she likes driving a Disco 2. She also liked our RRC.

    Funny that Ron...

Funny, I can't get my Mrs out of ours... she loves the P38.

Then again, she's ok in her lifted and loaded 100 series too.

I have a DSE (incorrectly called DHSE).
    Yes I imported it.

    Vehicle is 1996 details are:-
    - Jeremy Fearn Intercooler and chipped (dyno mapped)
    - OE Warn Winch and front bull bar mount (eat your heart out)
    - Safety Devices full caged roof rack (eat your heart out)
    - Dual Battery
    - Recon head and turbo and aircon compressor (3k ago)
    - New radiator, condensor, viscous fan (all OE)
    - Arnotts airbags new 2 years ago
    - New Hevac
    - heaps more

    Vehicle has 2 problems:-
    1. Auto transmission flaring between 2nd and 3rd
    2. Key fob stuffed

Will be repairing the Transmission soon, but thinking of selling as well.

Ron's seen and been in the the car (is that a bonus?)

    Questions?
