The Thule bars (or similar) would be what I'm after, I think.

Just something to bolt a roof top tent to.

To be honest, Thule bars aren't that useful. They are, however, very easy to remove and refit.

The Rhino bars are over-priced but much more versatile.

    Ron,

Do I need to get a set specifically for the P38? If so, where would I source them? (The Rhino, if the Thule are rubbish), or can I walk in to any SuperCheap auto, and pick up a universal set?

(As you can probably tell, I've never had to get roof rack before).

Rhino do legs for the P38A.

Legs RLTPRR. See Roof bar mounting detail for P38

Get the square bars, not the oval bars, for what you need.

I've got the rhino aero heavy duty cross bars and they're a good option when considering wind noise.

I used to have them attached to rhino feet that fitted the gutters, but now have clamping type feet, which attach to the factory fit roof rails (the front to rear ones).

There's an arch profile to the roof, so the front and rear feet need a spacer, when compared the middle pair of feet.

I have a rhino tray that can be attached to the cross bars. I'd love a full length rack to leave in situ.

    So I've checked this out:
    Fit My Car | Rhino-Rack

Apparently for the two-bar setup, it has a load rating of 50 kilos.
I'm assuming that's some fancy at-speed or braking loading? I hope so, as I'm about 110 kilos, and my RTT is about 65.

The P38 has a total roof load of 75kg. This is a 'dynamic' load for smooth roads... the static load is probably double this at least. For a roof top tent plus yr own body weight I'd recommend 3 bars to distribute the load.

I personally like the ProRack WhispBar. ProRack also make a square bar like the thule bar and have factory mounting kits

    SuperCrap and BCF carry them

The P38 has a slight roof curve so the center bar is 15mm higher than the front and rear bars, with two bars it's not an issue but if you fit three you'll need a 15mm spacer on the front and on the rear to create a level rack. I have the heavy duty Whisbar set so spacer kits are available in 5mm increments.
