Want me to pull the rear diff apart, or is there a simpler way to tell?
Cheers, Paul.
Hi all,
I have a RD 138 ARB locker and want to install in my 96 p38. I am getting conflicting info. Can anyone advise as to what locker fits the 96 diff and if this should fit both front and rear. From what i have read rd138 will go in the back but ARB quote 98 onwards and the RD128 will fit the front but not the rear.
Paul can you check yours. I know there are a few others with lockers who may also be able to provide advice. The cars is in the mechanics getting a few things done while i am in the states so any quick advice will be useful so i can get back to the mechanic. I was sure the rd138 would fit the rear.
Cheers,
Remy

Sorry Paul thought it was written on the diff but i cannot remember. I will search the ARB site and get back to you. Do you know if the early 95 diffs changed later in the year models. I thought they all stayed the same. Andy would probably know. Nothing like trying to solve a problem from half way around the world

Here's what I understand... someone please correct me if I've got it wrong.
It's all to do with 2W-Traction Control versus 4W-TC:
- 95-98 models (TC on rear only) have a 2-pin diff at front and 4-pin diff at rear.
- 99+ models have 4-pin diffs front and rear, and TC front and rear.
The RD128 suits the front for 95-98 models.
The RD138 suits the rear for all P38's, and front for 99+ models.
Cheers, Paul.

Thanks Paul
Now that is thinking!
When you buy a locker does it come with the 4 pin centre though?
How much will this cost me to do this upgrade?
All ARB lockers are 4 pin AFAIK.

Sounds like a great idea. When i get back from the states i will see what was done and what i have at my disposal. Thanks Scouse!
Front crown wheel & pinion on a P38 are reverse cut so putting the front in the rear & rear in front you will be running on the weak side of gears..
get the right locker for the right end...
