Thread: Sagging roof liner

Does anyone know someone in the western suburbs that can repair the sagging roof linner in my P38/ Any idea what it may cost

If you look in www.rangerovers.net/forums go to the P38 section and search roof lining , there is a lot of info on how to remove the roof liner (about 40 mins work) and DIY.

some motor trimmers may offer to do the job in situ but this is rarely successful. The original adhesive deteriorates markedly in the Aus. environment so it really needs to be removed properly from the roof lining "card".

While the roof lining card is out you might want to also remove the sliding sunshade and reline that as well while you are at it.

don't know what labour rates are in Melb, but I took the 'card' out and removed the lining and adhesive and took it to a trimmer up here. He redid the lining (incl sunshade) for about $150 ...I had to refit it.

Needed to let the liner sit for 48 hrs to ensure the adhesive dried properly and "take up" its proper shape before refitting.

If you are going to remove it yourself and take it somewhere, you'll need to fasten it to the top of the roof...don't use the roofrack because there's a good chance the wind will get underneath and cause the card to fracture.. tie it directly to the roof...
