2001 P38 Range Rover 2.5D Hazard Lights Won't Go Out

My hazard warning lights on my P38 Range Rover keep flashing and will go out but only for 5-10 seconds then repeat flashing as if the alarm is on.

I've so far changed the RF receiving unit, fusebox, alarm klaxon, hazard warning switch, indicator coloumn, drivers central locking.

I've also dried out the drivers footwell carpet and dried the wiring from bulkhead to BECM unit and the unit itself is dry but to no avail.

When I disconnect the battery and leave it overnight the next morning the hazards will be off for give or take a day-day and a half.

Losing patience and running out of ideas. Please help

That is truly odd. Wish I had something useful to contribute here other than it seems that the BeCM has experienced some drastic internal damage.

Water in the driver's footwell is usually attributed to leaking heater core o-rings. If the coolant has managed to soak the BeCM, it may have shorted something out. Changing the o-rings can be simple or complex depending on the condition of the screw holding the plate in place.

I would recommend (at your own risk, and perhaps consulting the brains trust at rangerovers.net and other rr sites) to remove the BeCM from under the driver's seat (RHD like us in Oz), clean it with isopropyl alcohol and a soft Tippex/cotton bud or similar, then wash it in metho (no residue) and leave it to dry thoroughly for a couple of days.

Upon re-installing the BeCM, you might need a fault reset tool like a Testbook (dealer tool), or FaultMate or Nanocom (both from Blackbox Solutions) to clear any faults and re-sych the BeCM and Engine Management System.

Best wishes. Please let us know how you fare.

    Cheers, Paul.

The inertia switch is on the drivers footwell, and that sets the hazards off, but it kills the engine too.

I'm backing battery or fuse box!

Check the fuse box for burnt looking terminals, and do the electrical sticky from here.
