Probably the binary (dual pressure) switch in the airconditioning (behind the bumper LHS).
In 10 years of ownership, I've only heard my fans come on about twice.
One thing ya gotta say about Range Rover.
They keep ya thinking, hey?
It's got to the point where I'm weraing a spot in the scalp, not a good look!
The rotten fans are no longer working......
Has anyone got any idea where exactly these rotters draw their power??
Please don't say the BECM!
I replaced Relay / Fuse box and lost the thermo fans soon after???
Some direction might just save a lot of stress...
Thanks fellas.

Hi Ron,
I was thinking along those lines but couldn't quite see where the switch was located.
In most cars there is another switch on the top of the receiver / dryer but I can't find that either, at least not yet.
The A/C works quite good now sice replacing the Fuse box and LH Blend motor but the lack of thermo fans has a tendency to loose efficiancy when in heavy traffic.
Thanks for the info, I will check it out in the morning.
Cheers,
Shirley. (96 P38A - 2000 D2 )
The receiver/drier is below/behind the LH bumper. If you check the ETM you'll see a description of how/when the fans switch on and how they switch from series to parallel connection (half-speed/full speed).
If you pull the connector off the switch and bridge the terminals in the connector, the fans should come on.
I could have sworn I'd posted about this (with pics) recently. I can't find it.

No worries Ron,
Got the idea of it.....
Just couldn't find the terminals up until now. I was beginning to wonder if Landrover had broken the rules of AC and done something totally new to science..
_____.
Shirley.
From the ETM:
Pressure switch 1 (Trinary switch)
This switch is in parallel with two components, the
condensor fans and the compressor clutch which are
both normally short circuit. If the pressure is too high
or too low, the switch will open and cut the feed to
the clutch to prevent damage to the system. With the
third setting, at a specific pressure the switch is
shorted and changes the condenser fan mode from
series to parallel.
Pressure switch 2 (Single switch)
The switch is normally open circuit. At a specific
pressure, the switch is shorted and allows the
condenser fans to turn on.

The thermo fans should only be working when the AC is on and it is roughly a 40C day.
I guess there is a coolant temp trigger point i would say it is in the region of 105C.
In 12 years of having my P38 i have only seen my fans on a few times.
If they are not cutting in your cooling system is A1 as far as im concerned.
