Rear Indicators Both Stay On ???

After the heavy rain last sunday both rear indicators are staying on permantly(only the rears). I have to take the battery lead off to turn them off. Trying to work out the issue I have noticed that if i switch on the hazard lights the front flash you can tell the rears are working with a slight increase in the glow however the trailer light indicator on the dash also flashes which would usual only work if the trailer was attached and pluged in. I have unpluged the trailer connector below behind the inspection plate in the rear. I have idea how to turn them off.

They're controlled through the BECM so I hope it hasn't been water affected. It might be worth having a look under the drivers seat for any sign of dampness .

If that looks OK, they might be getting a back feed from some dodgy wiring. I realise you've unplugged the trailer wiring but is it hooked up to the factory plug or has another plug been wired in?

My mate had it happen to his 2000 P38, just before I bought it!

I replaced the battery and it has been faultless since.

I found aftermarket alarm wire remantes under the carpet causing the problem. I removed a fuse controling it which turned off the rear lights I now need to work out how to remove the remaing wires so the car will start once fully removed. Thanks for the replys.

Ritters in Melbourne disable/remove [?] the factory P38 alarm and immobiliser and refit an after market alarm and immobiliser. They just did this to my mates P38 a few weeks ago. I have no idea what or how it works but work it does with no more inadvertent lockouts by an overzealous P38 factory security system.
