Am wondering what prompted you to replace the speakers? Did they develop the dreaded "buzz" at certain frequencies or did you need more volume...?
I look forward to the pics!
cheers
Hey guys,
Just a quickie, today I renewed the sound system in my P38, front and rear bass speakers replaced with 6.5" component speakers, small speakers in the rear doors replaced with tweeters, both subs replaced with 6.5" bass speakers (similar to door speakers but higher RMS).
There was nothing wrong with the tweeters or mid range speakers in the front so I have left them alone.
I had to make speaker brackets out of timber for the low range speakers in the doors, used 20mm pine (because I had it).
Only problem I have is rear drivers side door no sound. The crossover is working fine (tested it on another door), will have to trace the wiring to find a fault further up, probably the head unit no doubt!
Even without the rear speakers on the drivers side it pumps the tunes more than acceptably.
I'll put pics up later on via computer (using iPhone at the moment).
Cheers
Keithy

Both rear door speakers were never working, so I had them on my list, I guess I just ran out of odd jobs to do on the big girl! The subs were cactus too.
A week or so ago i found a web site with a fix it for the buzz issue.
It suggested that there are some components that develop issues as a result of dry solder joints. Pushing at the top of the head unit (front face) can be a test that will reveal if this is the issue that causes the buzz.
