I have used a medical syringe before to check vacuum lines. Get one of a reasonable size( without a needle) that fits snugly into the hose, pull the plunger out and let go. If it stays put you have a leak, if the plunger is drawn back in no leak.
Is there an easy way to check the vacuum on the cruise control. Mind is doing funny things. I put it on and it seems that it has not come on and then when I try it again it seems to come on but does not. I think I have a vacuum leak but,
Some years ago we fixed a vacuum leak, put on a new pedal switch as one leg was broken and changed the electrical bit as well. I think this must be vacuum but how do I check it.

Great Tip: Got me thinking you could isolate leak in any hose this way by plugging one end & using sysinge in other, Thanks wayneg
On the assumption that you live in Oz and that you have a RHD vehicle........
there is a T-piece adjacent to the cruise control actuator and vacuum pump. The hoses run to the vacuum pump, actuator and the brake vacuum switch, but anyway it's quite obvious where the pipes are connected to. You should not be able to such through the pipes that are connected to the brake switch (when the brake pedal is not depressed) and the actuator under any circumstances. If you can, then either you have a leaking pipe or a leaky component.
The syringe did the trick, have fixed the leak in the vacuum hose.
Just out of curiosity where was the leak?
At the T piece. I have and extension joiner in there where it had split before so the joiner and then a length of pipe to the T piece. I think the rubber on the original is getting old. Will probably have to replace it some time but at the moment not as the weather is too cold. 12 degrees today and rainy. I work on cars when I am comfortable.
Rubber hose perished on mine, just replaced and all good
