Thread: What is a Leading Arm?

They could've referring to the radius arms. Would be surprised if you have to replace the arms just the bushes would make sense. There is a need for pressing out old and in new for the barrel style ones if you stick with std. If you convert to PU (plastic) ones you can do away with pressing moving forward.

There is a guy on ebay sells super pro brand (good quality) for very reasonable prices. Will see if I can find some photo's and links for you tonight.

I agree, Radius arms. I think similar are called leading arms on Patrols etc which I am sure your mechanic will be more used to. Go with new bushes as advised

A trailing arm is where the chassis pivot point of a suspension arm is nearer to the front of the car than the arm mount on the axle. EG 38A REAR suspension.
A leading arm is where the chassis mount is behind the axle mounting.eg the FRONT suspension of a 38A.
This description applies to all vehicles AFAIK.

I was about to suggest "the opposite of a trailing arm", but didn't think it would be that simple.

Thanks mate, your right its just the bushes. I've had a couple of quotes to have these replaced ( Pedders $250 plus parts & my RR specialist $638 inc parts). This seems a lot to me given its just bushes.

Find yourself a helpful engineering workshop or someone with a press. Remove the arms and get them to press the old bushes out and new ones in. shouldn't cost anywhere near that. I got mine done for the cost of the bushes.

I'm a but sus that your being told your radius arms need replacing, they're not easily damaged.
