    Drivers window problem 2001 HSE.

I have been experiencing a loud banging and vibration when I try to wind my drivers window up to the top. Also getting a window not set message for that window.
The window goes up and down as normal, it only occurs when I try to put the window all the way up.
I have removed the inner door panel, only to find everything riveted together in there.
I cant see what is going on as it is all on the inside of the door cavity.
I don't want to go drilling out rivets unless I have to.
I'm guessing it is something to do with the regulator teeth jumping.
    Has enyone esle experienced this?
    Any fixes?
    Thanks, Pete.

It's definitely the regulator, the teeth are slipping on the drive gear. Nothing much you can do it has to be replaced. You have to drill out the rivets and replace the regulator.

    Ill second that.

Drill the rivets out and replace the regulator. You will find the last two teeth are chewed up! It's a fairly easy job to do. I replaced the rivets with a nut and bolt arrangement on mine.

Thanks Keithy and Fitzy, looks like I will be getting a new one!
Couldn't see well enough into the door cavity to know what was causing the noise.
Does the regulator include the motor, or is it just the scissor type mechanism?
    Cheers, Pete.

No motor just the regulator scissor, but easily fitted.

Might I recommend getting one from the UK rather than locally. Much much much cheaper from island4x4.co.uk - island4x4 Resources and Information. This website is for sale! than anywhere in aus.

Funnily enough that wheeler dealer P38 link I posted has footage of the repair for this problem, not detailed but worth a look

There are some pictures in this thread I posted when it happened to me. It wasn't the teeth in my case, the galvanised plate had worn through and was loose.

    Drivers Door Window Mechanism Broken

Same remedy, buy a new regulator cheap from UK and replace. I also took the advice of using bolts instead of rivets on the replacement.

Looks like it's a fairly common problem with P38's.
I priced a genuine replacement regulator, which was over $300, nearly fell over!
I found an identical after market version for around $90 and went for that.
Have not done the job yet, but I did find a very thorough guide here:
Land Rover How-to | Repair / Replace a Window Regulator or Window Motor on a 2000 Land Rover Range Rover P38

Will get it done next week, looks like a little bit of mucking around, but a fairly straight forward job.
Looking forward to a properly working window again.
