EAS compressor running often.
I recently noticed my eas compressor has been running a lot more than it used to.
I can hear it kicking in quite a bit while driving, it is not making any unusual noises, just running a lot.
The car stays up overnight, no faults coming up, the eas seems to be otherwise working normally.
I can't hear any obvious leaks around the valve block, any suggestions on where to start looking?
Cheers, Pete.

I'd find a way of measuring its dead head pressure with a pressure gauge. Make sure it's getting up to 145psi. Have a look at rswsolutions website, it has links to various eas diagnosis tests. It would also be worth while painting all possible leak points with soapy water.
But it sounds like you may need a compressor rebuild kit. No harm in a refresh of the compressor if you know its old or don't know it's history.

Is it running frequently but only for a few seconds at a time?
There are issues with the brush housing coming loose.

I FINALLY got around to replacing the EAS compressor seals, without too much drama.
The old seals were worn but still in tact, new seals all in now and running the same as before with the compressor often running issue.
After a lot of reading and watching, I noticed the front slowly rasing about 2cm while the compressor runs, then shuts of and the front drops down again, which sounds very much like the 'slow dance', I have read about, indicating a problem with the non return valves.
So it sounds like my EAS valve block needs new seals.
I've had a good read of Paul P38's superb guide on rebuilding the valve block, looks like a tricky job, but doable.
I have read on this forum about people having problems after rebuilding their valve block, what are your experiences with this job?
Is it a tough one, or not so bad?
Cheers, Pete.

With the aid of Pauls write up this is a very do-able and rewarding task as long as you take your time and do it very methodically. You will need to de-pressurise the system before starting.
My tips are to remove the whole EAS box complete with compressor, a bolt at each corner, then remove the valve block on a bench. Does not make much difference getting it out but certainly getting it back in. Be very careful that the collets for the airlines dont drop out whilst refitting and put a couple of fibre washers under each corner of the eas box to raise it a little when refitting.
I get a permanent marker and number each of the solenoids even though I still do them one at a time. Set yourself up in a clean area with no distractions.
I now highly recommend sanding down the ends of the solenoid pistons with a drill press one at a time as you move along. Easy.

Take extra care with those pesky 10mm x 1mm O rings on the solenoid valve stems. They're so easy to pinch/crimp.
One at a time is good advice. Inspect the nrv cones. Put the best ones in the outer positions. That's my opinion anyway.
Rebuilding one is a right of passage.
