I do apologise in advance for not reading the links you posted, but I can speak from experience that the 'sock' type filter is very effective.

I used one in my Torana for many years and cleaned the sock every 6months or so - constantly removing crud! It prevents the radiator from receiving any of it (so no blockages).

I put a Tefba filter on a courier I had. wouldn't bother with them again. The screen in them is very coarse and would only stop gravel.
I would fit the fleetguard filter in the heater circuit, you would get much better filtration than the Tefba.

With an aluminium engine and head, demineralised water and proper coolant, I've never had a problem. Brass fittings will cause fallout with the OAT coolant, hence the plastic radiator tanks rather then brass...
Like Keithy I also had a Torana ...different story.. at one stage I was using surplus panty hose to catch golf ball size bits and pieces ...well maybe not quite golf ball size

If you are fitting one go for the fleetgard. It is actually a proper filter rather than a metal screen.

You can even get filters with slow release coolant granules to extend coolant replacement intervals.

The tefba filter I used on my 1999 Thor motor was prone to weeping coolant and never sat quite right on the top hose as the bonnet blanket would foul on the lid.
It never did seem to pick up much gunk either, but I put that down to regular coolant maintenance
