    Hi

I spoke to Benji at Rampt Customs today and emailed him a link to the forum thread and design by sean.

I am going to call him back and go up and see him early next week.

I also found a place at Wyong called "Barred Up" the guy seemed pretty positive he could do a bar as well. Will see him early next week as well.

I will let everyone know how it all goes.

    Hi Steve,

I finally spoke with Benji just this week. We've had a few dramas with getting a hold of each other.

Basically we're at a stage where I should find some designs I like and then will need to drop the car off an leave it there while he fits a rear bar and the sliders... Now that's the main deterrent for me seeing it's a fair way to drive up and back twice while leaving the car there. Sounds promising otherwise.

But keen to hear any feedback you have as I'm still contemplating the idea. Sounds like he takes a lot of pride in his work.

    Peter.

I am looking at basing my design on the one Sean made with any ideas Benji has for improvements.

DIY Rear bar and swing away carrier

I am looking for Rock Sliders as well, so it may be easier for my beast to be the template vehicle since I live a fair bit closer, just an hour up the M1 for me.

Benji also rather proudly said "Being a Rover Man myself ..." which made me

    Regards
    Steve

Sounds good to me. Well that'll be great to be honest. Hopefully it works out to be just an overnighter for me. I'd do that because he does sound quite passionate about his work.

Yeh I hear ya about the rover and part, coming from someone who normally ain't brand biased :-) They're all good blokes ha ha. Good thing is our p38 chassis are far better suited for sliders over the classic he drives.

The rock sliders on my Classic are body mounted, 50x50x5mm, & have copped an absolute beating over the years without any movement.

Do P38s need to be chassis mounted or is there a way to body mount them?

I don't think they would have to be but it's likely the easiest I think from my inexperienced look underneath. I guess you get the benefit of them not flexing much at all, but need to allow some clearance for body movement.

Benji said he mounted his classic ones on the body as well because the chassis was too difficult. I don't doubt you can't mount them to the body with minimal felx though.

    Hi,

I spoke to Benji at Rampt Customs today, after giving him a little nudge via voicemail .

I have the beast booked in for next Monday and he will need the car for two weeks

He is doing a rear bar with dual carriers, one wheel and one Jerry can, plus rocksliders.

All up it will be around 3K, about 650 for the sliders and the rest for the bar.

Hopefully he will come up with a good design which can be replicated.

At the moment we are going for lights in the bar and a detachable number plate carrier with light.

Will keep the forum up to date

That's what I thought when 3.5K was mentioned for a bar several months ago , but from looking around at pricing it does not seem so steep now.

It includes about 650 for the sliders as well

Still not cheap but it should be a great setup once done

    Steve
