    Weird A/C problem

Firstly..I noticed during the last winter my HEVAC would always show 32 degree outside temp (with snow flake symbol) all the time, so i figured the OT sensor was bad and changed it. Summer is here and so I did a quick check of the A/C system, re-charged the system and it fired up immediately and blew nice and cool. Next morning (this is where it get weird) when i started the HEVAC showed 32 degree outside temp so no A/C, went on a long drive and after about 3 miles HEVAC temp started to increase and once over 36 degree, snow flake disappears, A/C kicks in and it blows nice and cool. This now happens every time the vehicle is started after more than a hour rest. Also noticed that if the vehicle is started and i have no A/C, sometimes if I shut down and restart immediately HEVAC shows correct outside temp and system blows nice and cool.

Why is the new Outside Temp Sensor not reading immediately the vehicle is started, am I correct to believe that if the system thinks the outside temp is too cold it will not start the A/C system?

What am I missing here......... a scan show only a problem with the blend motors which I already have and will change when I get the time

I remember reading something along the lines of you need to drive fro 15mins at above 15KPH for the temperature sensor to stabilise.

That doesn't explain the weird behaviour though!

Steve, you are correct that this would not explain the faulse reading from start, I can understand it taking some time to settle down and may fluctuate between + or - 3 degree but why would it alway start as low as 32 degree.

So is it showing Fahrenheit? To have the snow flake symbol associated with it? Do you need to change settings to.Celsius?

Ah - I see you're in the land of non-metrification. Scrub my last comment.

    HI

It may be you have some high resistance connections in that circuit, Deoxit works very well for me. It may be worth trying to measure the circuit and the sensor resistance values
