Try boscoauto on ebay. I got a set of 3 bars (rhino copy) rated to 150kg for $189 delivered to my door. Gutterless may cost more but they seem to have a good range of stuff

Hey Steve,

I'm glad you pointed that out. While I was already aware (and simply dicing with disaster), it's good for anyone reading this thread who may not already know the roof load rating.

I'm not real sure how I'm going to play all of this. 63 kilos for the roof top tent, then I need the roof racks, and I'm planning on putting a sizeable solar panel on top.
I think I'm going to be pushing 80 kilos.
There's going to have to be some weighing of things involved, and possibly a smaller solar panel than I'd like.

If you are going to be driving with a heavy load on the roof rack/bars, the recommended DNE( "do not exceed") weight of 75kg, is for generally smooth roads. The rule of thumb for rough roads is 50% of the recommended DNE.

While I have an Aussi Explorer on a trailer, I have an "Oasis" for the roof bars. Got it at a discount sale several yrs ago. It weighs just 17kg http://www.trekking.fr/

It can be erected on the ground and I have used it several times for overflow of rellies at Christmas ...simply put it out on the back deck!

I particularly like the way the short awnings deploy to keep water away from the walls. The way it folds down seems to almost eliminate the possibility of damp bedding if you have to pack up in the rain...Nice bit of kit!
