You may have exceeded the max deviation from the optimum thrust angle for those UJs. They don't have to be binding to cause trouble. The UJs (Hooke joints) are not true CV joints. The only way around this is to install a drive shaft with double cardan joints. That's partly why in stock form the "high" setting in the EAS is restricted to 35 (55?) km/hr.

responses. Others will chip in on their experiences...but the general principles hold nevertheless.
