    Smile Bloody HEVAC

If there is someone in the Brisbane area who has done, is interested in or can offer advice on replacing the drivers side blend motor I would be more than happy to chat. I have had the blend motors replaced twice in 2 years by a well known LR specialist but I am loathe to try them a third time. It is only the drivers side and I believe the cause of recent failure has been due to just replacing the motors and not checking the blend flaps for free operation or cleaning out any foreign material that may have been trapped in there. My car is an MY 2001 but I don't know whether the blend motor is a 2 wire or a 5 wire, both of which are available on Ebay
Looking forward to being flooded with replies

    Hello rushy.
I have had my drivers blend motor out of my 98 gems.
It's a ***** of a job. If you can remove your trim along the centre console, and the instrument cluster, you maybe able to get to it.
If your keen, you can remove all the centre console, it really isn't to hard.
The worst bit is the heater duct which is really the only troublesome part of the job.
I found that all my trim was brittle, and I got fed up having to remove it all 3 times in one weekend for several jobs. I would strongly suggest just cutting the duct, then just bogging it back together some how.
As far as the wires, I have seen the 2 wire blend motors, I thought they were for the recirculating flaps, but don't quote me on that. Mine are a 5 wire. 2 wire to power the motor, 3x wires to get the reading from the position.
Good luck, you will probably be using some choice words.
    Mine is also needing replacement.
Look at island 4x4 in the uk. There set is quite cheap, there maybe cheaper places, hopefully someone maybe able to confirm.

Yeh that's correct blindin. 5 wires on the blend and air position motors, and two wires on the recirculation motors.
