Driving down the road today I gave the car a bit of the right boot. It accelerated pretty well then for a moment the exhaust note changed followed by a "phat" sound, then very loud. Looking in the mirror what looked like a "chicken" was rolling down the road getting blown like a tumbleweed. In reality my rear muffler has rusted out and the fibre filling on the muffler is no longer being restrained by the rusted out perforated internal pipe. It looks like it's time for a new rear resonator (muffler). With the rear muffler as my only muffler it has become very loud. Even the Harley riders get drowned out LOL.

It's still a bit rough around 1800 a 2000 rpm, but today I'll hopefully get a stainless resonator put on. There is still quite a bit of the fibre I can see blocking the pipe. I'm sure another chicken/fur ball will be shot out again in the not too distant future
It will be interesting to see if the new muffler helps eradicate the rough running.

Mmmmm glass packed mufflers
they do make a "phat" noise when they blow out!

Not sure what centre muffler you have mate but when I removed the rear resonator it was nowhere near as loud as a Harley !
I am sure that chicken was well cooked

Steve, Keithy was correct no centre muffler and eventually no stuffing in the rear effectively giving a straight through unsilinced exhaust. Fun for a short time especially at WOT. But realistically totally impractical for road use. I've finished up with a straight through centre muffler and no rear. The sound in the cabin is negligent and the sound outside just a nice v8 burble. $300 well spent.
