    Get out! Get away.

We don't need your sort here!

Now we know the real reason why you need another mechanic in your workshop.

Ha ha very funny you lot! I've been fortunate enough to have received a 1996 hse in restorable rebirthable condition and will try my hand at a diesel conversion. Vehicle was essentially free and still needs work as the trans has lost all forward gears the heater is leaking and all the usual suspects are wrong with hevac etc. Still it has decent cream leather and apart from the headliner is quite ok. The trouble and strife has basically intomated that further touring will not be undertaken in any form of defender or suchlike so i have been charged with a sacred quest to make a fantastically capable yet stupidly complicated vehicle into a simpler and economical towing/ touring vehicle. Thats as far as we have got but the vehicle is here and at some point the project will begin☺

Any thoughts at this point as to which oil burner ?
Or will you make it reasonably simple (P38a, simple ? ) and use the TD6 ?

Likely to be a td5 as i have one here complete rebuildable. The bellhousing from the 4hp22 will bolt to the 4hp24 so keeping it all rover will be a sensible and neat option. I am under no illusion about the difficulty of the task but willing to give it a go as the purchase of a lc100 turbo which was on the short list would be the beginning of the slide into mediocrity. .. despite that glorious FTE engine.
