    Thanks Russell,
Just received my BMR Kit today, had a good look at the instructions and seems very well done and I feel I should be able to tackle this with no problems. Just have to sort out a new work bench then I will be into it.
Thanks again Russell for putting the effort in to fix this problem.

    Smile Range Rover ABS Booster

    Hi There

I read the thread about Russell Botha's enginuity. For years the brakes on my 1995 RR have always been very ordinary even though I have been to numerous brake mecahnics and Rover dealers only to be told this is as good they get- well not true.
After thinking about it and looking at the plastic parts in the Wabco unit I decided to install the stainless steel parts Russell has engineered. My major concern was my inability to carry out the work without braking something else, and particularly not to compromise the safety of the braking sysyem.
I have always been very, very reluctant to do work on the brakes because it seemed a no go zone for a weekend worrier-but the brakes were slowing getting worse and I could not get any sense anywhere.

Well the GOOD news, I got the kit and CD from Russell and installed it successfully. I cannot say enough how much it improved my brakes - I now can feel the car stop rather than having brakes akin to that feeling of using thongs on my first billy cart as brakes - the pedal feels totally different in the right way and there is definitely less need to apply pressure to the pedal and a far greater return on brakling. I would say its a must do, whether you do it yourslf or get someone to do it. I think I am average in the mechanical skills (but I am anal at making sure all parts a clean and no dirt or mess goes near my beloved RR and I like seeing things done properly) hoewever with Russell's CD that comes with the kit and his fantastic help I did it... My tip is take your time and dont force anything.

Thanks Russell for help and A Very Big congrats to Russell well done - I recomend it to all passionate RR lovers.

    Regards Bruce

I too don't own a P38 ( I have toyed with the idea but SWMBO might go off big time) BUT

I am with Grimace on this, Thanks for keeping the dream alive for the owners and the rest of us safe on the roads.

Just a quick post to show default by design is not LR unique:
I had a 94vr Holden Statesman v8. A common fault (talking to the steering specialist he had several with identical problem) they have is with a plastic ring (sound familiar)in the power steering but only in the statesman as they had the variable speed/ assist power steering, unlike the commodore.
The plastic ring would do exactly the same as the one in the RR and disintegrate( at around the 10 year mark) blocking the valve's to the steering causing it to be almost impossible to turn to the point of almost causing an accident.( I was 31, 6ft and pretty fit)
The only difference was it cost me $400 to have it cleaned, flushed out and the bloody plastic part replaced, I asked for a steel one but he said none available. At the time I had a SIII 88 with 31" tyres and the VR was my wifes. We where very lucky she was not driving when it happened!

I am wondering whether this might be applicable to my 94 soft-dash classic; anyone know whether the ABS system is the same as the early p38?

    Thanks for the links

My kit is now on it's way from Russell.

Next Step: Read Intructions and decide if it is within my skill level to do or if it should be entrusted to brake specialist.

    Cheers For Now
